One of the most important resource needed in provision of eye care are well trained Optometrists. Ophthalmology depends heavily on such assistance, perhaps more than in any other field of medical science.

Any initiative to alleviate visual loss leans heavily on expertise of Optometrists. Hence empowerment and deployment of well trained Optometrists is first and of foremost importance if we want to reach out and serve people suffering from any degree of visual loss, in a long term sustainable manner.

Optometrists are the mainstay of service chain as primary eye care delivery person in sub-urban, and rural segments of the community and as an assistant to the practicing ophthalmologist in secondary, tertiary and centers of excellence of eye care. They contribute by maximising the working capacity of any eye care service.

We have thus, chosen in this program, to provide ever greater opportunities of honing their skills and provision of increased hands-on supervised teaching and training facilities to optometry graduates.

We sincerely hope and wish our internees to reach out to the deprived segments of the community and be a source of inspiration and of service to where expertees are needed most.
